It’s been a while since the last update on our blog but there’s been many interested project we were working on and it was very hard to keep you up to date on this and … ( excuses, excuses, excuses ) but I’d like to share or at least mention this braking point here of our old client JDMcNicioll Interiors witch was keeping us busy lately. Working hard on Search engine optimization and their content management system is starting to pay back now and there’s been some interesting numbers in going on when it comes to online traffic going towards to JDMcNicoll interiors website. Numbers of online visitors are literally doubled since the last month from 489 visits a month to 1150 visits a month for very high frequency Google keywords and phrases like “furniture toronto”, “interior design toronto” and “furniture stores toronto” with was our main goal.
We decided to convert this heavy growing numbers in to a revenue and launch their entire furniture line online where visitors will be able to not only shop online for their existing furniture but customize the way they like or fit it to their budget. JDMcNicoll Interiors is a custom mill work company so when I’m saying customizing the furniture online I mean choosing the material, finish, color, hardware and so on where visitor will be provided with an immediate pricing as well. The online store is still in beta development stage but we are working hard to deliver it as soon a possible so stay tuned.

Since the internet offered you the ability to choose the product you are interested in, you search and you choose based on what you are looking for. We search for products because it’s convenient, fast and we get what we want. Yesterday many Toronto and Mississauga companies offered me their products and services that I’m not interested in by very traditional way. Taking out only 3 letters addressed to me and over 100 pages of flayers and commercial materials that I have never signed up for, from my mailbox is a common thing in where I live. It’s actually my daily routine and I got use to it. My landlord keeps a big trash bin near by and everyone simply sort through their junk mail hoping to find the real one and the rest goes to the trash. But not this time. There was just too much junk-mail in that bin. It didn’t even fit in to it anymore and it was all over the floor. It was really hard to not notice that and that made me thinking. I decided to find out how much of that junk mail is actually read by us because it was more than obvious that most of it is thrown away. By comparing the content in a junk-mail bin and my mailbox, suggesting that everyone is receiving the same offers, turned my micro project in to some stunning results.

wpdesigner.com has been sold by his confounder high school student also known as Small Potato for $66000. This blog was a big source of open mind thoughts and super useful WordPress tutorials to me and other hundreds of bloggers for a long time. His famous “So you want to create WordPress themes huh?” tutorial has been helping many people to build their own blogs, as he says “because I was not happy with the quality of free WordPress themes at that time and decided to learn how to create one for myself and release it for free“. It has been mainly personal issues that forced small potato to sell the this blog. According to his entry, the new owner, Pawel Ciszewski, will keep the Themes Club up and running but since he was pronounced no comment or any other statement has been made which makes hundreds of wpdesigner.com funs anxious. If I may express my opinion, wpdesigner.com is just another blog, to me now.

Your browser’s “home page” will not only help you in every day search for what ever you are looking for but also tell others who you are. Today, after I saw Mark Jarvis’ presentation (65 minute Marketing Strategies video) and I think it is time for delicious change now and change my Mozilla home page from Google to del.icio.us permanently.

It has been about 2,5 years I was using Google to search in each web browser since I am working here in IBM as a graphic designer and I realized that Google is starting to give me less relevant results every day.

Pure fact here is, that social bookmarking has been building it’s network for longer than Google, Yahoo! or another search engine. This is reason number one why del.icio.us is more powerful tool to me than any search engine. Second reason why I’m going to use del.icio.us from now on is, that the “human factor” gets involved here finally. Search engines’ results are algorithm calculations del.icio.us is bringing only the important content in to my focus and that’s what I need.

My latest discovery of quiet a bit interesting website www.ideastorm.com (to me at least) especially its video part and particularly 65 minute Marketing Strategies video that has delivered some very interesting facts to my brain once again. This presentation just proves me that Dell Marketers really are the best around. Have you ever wondered at what stage the internet really is today or what direction is it taking now. Is it all just Google that makes money online or is it actually end of Google? How big is online social networking and how does it effect the future of the internet? No? I do all the time.

Did you know that every second 8 million text messages are sent over the internet, 3 new dsl user are subscribed, 2 brand new blogs are created, 2 million emails are sent, 25 mobile phones are sold, 5 PCs are sold, 1400 videos are viewed on Youtube, 1200 Google searches are made, 23 new domains are registered, 7 people login for a first time, 17000 IMs sent to Yahoo and 18000 illegal songs are shared? EVERY SECOND!

What is even more interesting, all these thinks he is talking about are pretty much happening in frond of my eyes every day and I subconsciously realize them, I just don’t have enough time to analyze them deep enough like he does. But thankfully interactive internet brings me this massage as a video stream, so lacy me. I highly recommend, just be careful, it may start a storm in my head.

My latest discovery of Facebook and it’s true 50 million users community power has just knocked me down. In about last 3 day when I start to really, really interact with users from all around the Toronto and world has simply gave me more contacts, feedbacks and new ideas to help me market my business, that I would never be able to put together my self not even in a year. What I really like about Facebook is that, Facebook is directly helping companies, freelances and small basenesses with so called “Business Solutions” to get out. I just want to mention the Facebook Pages what I found very useful, witch are much like individual websites where companies can setup their pages and post their latest information about their work and so on. You don’t have too much control over these pages, but using text some graphic and photos you can put together a basic informational page. But what is more important that you are benefiting from 50 million user traffic with is quiet a number to me. It definitely works for me and I have all intentions to stay is that spin as log as I can. I highly recommend www.facebook.com

Just by incorporating a simple ides in to vector graphic using graphic design is one of the most effective ways how to impress your audience. The old saying “the beauty is in simplicity” works here maybe even twice. This work has been done for an toy store whale seller here in Toronto to illustrate their products and bought we and them think it came up pretty nice. What do You think?
